VERA'S STORY

Among the first clients were two ladies from the local Domestic Violence Shelter. Natasha and Vera (not their real names) found out about the Pregnancy Care Centre (PCC) through a newspaper ad. One of them came for pregnancy testing, the other one already knew she was expecting a baby. They ended up in the Shelter, because of physical abuse by their husbands. Vera was in despair, since she knew that it's possible to stay in the Shelter for only up to two months. She was pregnant… What would happen to her? She had thought about suicide, or having an abortion.

Vera was able to have hope again when we told her about the ways we could help her during the pregnancy and afterwards. After just seeing the baby clothes and equipment we offer, Vera decided to continue with her pregnancy.

Vera delivered a healthy baby boy, and now the PCC is committed to assisting them with practical help and counseling. This was the first “fruit” of the PCC.
